Get Beautiful Eyebrows

Posted by tehreem On August - 14 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Eyebrows are an important part of your face and create an influence to your face. To make your eyes look larger and more open keep adequate space between your eyes and your eyebrows by plucking clean from beneath the brows. But don’t pluck too much so as to make your brows too thin. If you have bushy eyebrows or very thick eyebrows, then you might are in need to trim the ends to keep the length short and to make them less thick.

The shape of your eyebrows should be in a slight arch, wider toward your nose or in the start and thinning toward the temples. The peak of the arch should generally be about ¾ of the distance of the width of your eye toward the temple. The length of the brow is determined by the width of your eyes. Start your eyebrows about where your eyes begin inside your nose and end them just beyond where your eyes end toward your temples.

If the size of your eyes is small than do not keep thick eyebrows. They’ll make them appear even more smaller. Thinner brows will allow smaller eyes to look larger.

If your eyes are spaced too close to each other, make a slightly larger space between your eyebrows than you normally would. Not too great a space, just sufficient to give a more open and wider look.

Eyebrow Pencil Selection:

As for color, choose an eyebrow pencil that somewhat matches your hair color, but never go for black, even if your hair is black. Use dark brown for black or brunette, lighter brown for brownette, auburn or brown for red hair, light brown or dark blond for blonds.

Tip: A gold pencil can be used, lightly and sparsely, as a highlight with red and blond hair. It creates a soft yet exciting look. Always keep your eyebrow pencils sharp for a more natural look.

Applying Eyebrow Pencil:

When applying eyebrow pencil, use short, light, upward, quick strokes for each “hair,” allowing them to blend together. Never draw the pencil through the whole eyebrow in one stroke. Strokes should be in upward/outward motion. Keep your eyebrows as natural looking as possible.

Eye MakeUp Tips

Prime Time The most important part of any eye make-up routine is to get the base right. Neutralise any redness (especially near the lashes) with a skin-coloured base. Around the eye, foundation tends to slip so choose a specialist primer containing a bit of silicone, which will ‘hold’ any products you apply on top

Take Cover If you suffer from dark circles, counteract the blue under your eyes with a pink-toned base first, then lift any greyness with a dab of yellow-toned, skin-coloured concealer. Your fingers are the best tools for this - pat it on gently, taking care not to drag

Get in Line The most common mistake people make with eyeliner is to draw a thick black line across the lid, rather than working the pigment into the lash roots. Warm the pencil on the back of your hand first. When lining the upper lid, look upwards, and apply from underneath the lashes to get a subtle blended line. If your eyes are small or deep-set, line the lower lashes, too, applying a dark shadow with a blunt brush for a softer effect

Choose Your Palette Black looks striking on everyone, but complement cool blue eyes by choosing warm-toned shadows; deeper purples and blues work just as well as golds and coppers, provided they have a warm undertone. Green or hazel eyes look fabulous with soft plums, browns and forest greens, while brown eyes can get away with pretty much anything

Shade It In For a natural daytime look, sweep a neutral highlighter over the lid, up towards the brow. Next, apply your colour of choice to the lid, keeping the intensity around the lashes. Blend upwards, fading the colour out towards the socket line. Widen close-set eyes by blending a slightly darker shade into the outer corner of the lid

Eye MakeUp: Enhance your Eye Shape

Posted by tehreem On July - 24 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Eyes have been called the windows of the soul because of how much they communicate. Eyes give your face energy and individuality. They do not have to be a certain size or shape to be considered pretty - all eyes have their own unique beauty. When makeup is applied to look natural it will bring out the eye’s true color and enhance the eye’s beauty. When you feel good about your makeup you will be more confident and will have one less thing to worry about.

A subtle application of eyeliner, shadows and mascara work together to create magic and make your eyes look their best.

Eye Shadow

Eye shadow is meant to highlight and define the eyes. Eye shadow is used to create depth to bring out the beauty of the eyes. A dark color used on the lid will make the eye appear smaller, while a lighter color will make it appear larger. That is what eye shadow is about creating illusions. These are the basic techniques for the following eye shapes:

Small eyes: Don’t use too much shadow or liner – it will make you eyes look smaller. Apply a light color on eyelid, use a darker color in the crease and use a highlighter under the brow.

Large eyes: Wear darker shadow on the lid and extend it to the crease. Use a flat color under the brow to highlight.

Deep-set eyes: Use light colors on the eyelid and under the brow. Use a medium color in the crease. Emphasize the outer corners with shadow.

Wide-set eyes: Use darker colors on the inner corners of the eye.

Hooded eyes: Apply light colors on the lid. Use darker colors from the center of the eyelid to the outer corners and blend.

Round eyes: Make round eyes longer by using color all around and extending toward the outer corners.

Asian eyes: Apply highlighter under the brow. Use light shadow on the inner half of the lid and a darker color on the outer half.

1. Light colors cause the eyes to open, dark colors will cause the eyes to recede

2. If you have very light skin avoid dark shades

3. Be careful with shimmer – they will bring attention to imperfections and wrinkles.

4. The eye area is the first to show age don’t tug on the skin.

Eyeliners:

Eyeliners are meant to define the eyes so they should do just that, not be the focal point of your makeup. Eyeliners come in various colors and forms liquid, pencil etc. Keep the eyeliner natural. Pencils are available in many colors (for the best look stick to black or brown) and can be sharpened for a fine line. For a smudged effect use a sponge tip shadow applicator or an eye shadow brush. When your pencils are too soft refrigerate them. When they are too hard soften them by holding them between your fingers.

Applying Eyeshadow

Posted by tehreem On July - 12 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

EYESHADOW should always glide on smoothly, and can be used to subtly change or enhance the shape of the eyes, to add simple definition or to make a strong impact, depending on your choice of colour. When applying eyeshadow sweep the lightest shade across the entire area from lash line to brow. This serves as a base to the other eye shadow colors much like a foundation for the rest of the face. A medium color can be applied on the lower part of the lid. The darkest shade can be skillfully used to create depth.

How to Apply Eyeshadow

Make-up artists recommend that, when you are wearing eyeshadow, you should pile on extra loose powder  under the eyes to catch any stray particles of eyeshadow. After shading the eyes, this can be removed by dusting off with a large make-up brush. After application, if you feel your choice of eyeshadow is too intense, tone the colour down by dusting with face powder or gently wipe a foundation sponge over the eyelid to make the overall effect more subtle. To ensure that your eyeshadow is long-lasting and crease-proof, make-up artists advise application with a damp make-up brush. As the eyeshadow is blended into the skin, it will dry. Also, because the product will cling to the wet brush, stray particles of powder will not collect on the cheeks.

1. Apply a light color over your entire eye lid from lash line to brow. Use a large flat eye shadow brush. Always use good quality brushes.

2. The second step is to apply a medium shadow color on your lower lid from lash line to the crease of your eye. Use a fluff brush.

3.The third step is to use your darkest color as a liner and apply along your lash line. To insure shadow will not flake, dampen your eyeliner brush before applying shadow. This will make it last longer.

Types of eye shadows

  • Dark - This is applied only to the eyelids from the lashline to the crease in the eyelid.
  • Medium - This is applied from just below the eyelid crease to the browbone.
  • Highlight - This is the lightest of the three and is applied to the browbone and extends a little past the outer end of the eyebrow. This usually gives a pearly finish.

Eyeliner Tips & Tricks

Eyeliner can make even the smallest eyes appear larger. Applying it correctly is key, you don’t want the line to be too dark, harsh and obvious or you risk looking overdone. Here we share our favorite tried-but-true eyeliner tips.

The Basic, “I’m Off to Work or the Weekend,” Eye

This is the perfect work or weekend look for women who want their eyes to “pop” without giving off the appearance of a woman who’s really, really into makeup, so into makeup she has this site bookmarked in her Web favorites.

The key to the basic eye is to apply with a light hand. Unless you are Catherine Zeta-Jones or Beyonce and have been blessed with sultry dark looks, opt for a lighter shade than kohl or black. The basic eye is all about appearing natural. Leave the black for the looks below.

This look calls for liquid or pencil eyeliner, a deep-hued eyeshadow and an eyeliner brush.

Step 1: Holding the skin of your upper lid taut, apply eyeliner from the outside corner of the eye, stopping two-thirds of the way along the eyelid. Apply with short strokes, drawing the line into the lash line rather than above it. For a more dramatic look, make the outside line a bit thicker than the inside.

Step 2: Set liner with a deep eyeshadow. Dip eyeshadow brush into the shadow, then apply shadow over the eyeliner. This will set the eyeliner, which tends to rub off on eyelid.

Step 3: Apply eyeshadow to lower lashes. Using your eyeshadow brush, apply the deep-hued eyeshadow along the bottom lashes, from the outside in. Unless you have wide-set eyes, don’t line the entire lower lid. Instead, stop halfway across. For a more natural look, don’t dip the brush into the shadow again, instead, use the excess that’s still on the brush for the lower lashes.

Step 4:Clean up any mistakes with a cotton swab.

Extra tips: To make eyes appear wider, trace the inner rims of eyes with a white pencil.

Tips for making your eyebrows perfect

Posted by tehreem On March - 22 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Eyebrows can make you or break you, it’s as simple as that ladies. Sometimes they look amazing for no apparent reasons, while other times they resemble the impact of a car crash: it’s terrible you know, but you just can’t stop looking! So whether the problem is over-tweezing, not tweezing enough, or just tweezing the wrong way, your eyebrows will come out with a weird comma or those nasty sperm shapes and will completely ruin your look! Eyebrows make a huge difference for your face and you can go from blah to dazzling in just a few minutes with the right tips for getting those perfect eyebrows.

If You Have Uneven, Patchy Eyebrows…

Your problem lies in the way you tweeze, obviously. Patchy brows are just uneven and need a more consistent shape. So how do you get it? You need to bring a little definition to your brows. So go get a magnifying mirror and analyze your brows. See where they need a little more definition. If the base of your brows are bushy, start plucking in order to thin out that base to reveal a sexy, curved arch. Clean up the edges, and make sure to remove all strays that are a half-inch beyond the outer corner of the eyes. Cover up any gaps by applying a tiny bit of brown eyeshadow or powder. And now, you have beautiful, perfectly shaped and defined brows!

If Your Brows Are Overplucked

If you’re one of those that just can’t get enough plucking, it is time to stop, seriously. You’ll end up with nothing woman! Your eyebrows probably look skinny and unbalanced. Fix this problem by using a good brow pencil and filling in any gaps that you might see. Remember to even out both of them, in order to create the illusion of symmetry. Stroke a little bit of brow powder to minimize any bald spots. If you just can’t wait for new hair to grow in, you can also try a growth-enhancing gel. Fuller brows will complement your face as well as slim it down, trust me.

If Your Brows Are Overgrown…

If you’re one of those that doesn’t even own a pair of tweezers, then we need to talk! Bushy brows can take over your face! So start by trimming above and below the brow bone in order to get rid of that extra hair that’s been sitting there. Then pluck below the arch to define the shape. Keep the hair in place by using a little bit of clear mascara, it really works! Now that your overgrown eyebrows are nice and trimmed, your cheekbones will stand out a lot more!

If Your Brows Slope Down…

Eyebrows that slope downward are usually untouched and allll natural. Well you need to do something about that and fast! Start by combing your brows downward and trimming any hairs that fell below the arch. This is basically the biggest problem, and you’ve just eliminated it! Enhance the brows’ definition by tweezing underneath the highest points of the arches, which added much lift. Continue by applying a highlighter under the brow bone to brithten up her eye area.

If Your Brows Are Sparse…

People with sparse eyebrows usually have slight, straight-across eyebrows. Well, that’s pretty boring and it just doesn’t do justice for your face! Start by finding your perfect arch by lining up a pencil with the outer edge of your iris and marking that spot. You must do this for each brow as they are not identical. Finish off by brushing on some pomade. You can now rest easy and enjoy your newly sculpted brows.

If Your Brows Are Hooked…

Hooked eyebrows are arches that hook too close to the inner corner of the eyes. Quickly fix this problem by tweezing a straight line from the base of your brows up to the arches. This is they key top opening up your face. Use a kohl pencil to smooth out the overall shape of your brows.
