Hair Oil Is Must For Healthy Hair

Posted by tehreem On August - 12 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Oiling ones hair is one of the most important things, if we want to take care of our hair. It is very necessary that hair is given proper treatment which would mean a massage with some of the most beneficial oils.

Having the right kind of oil for your hair is very important and so is oiling your hair. Many of us have a hectic schedule due to which, oiling and washing our hair holds the last priority. If you want healthy hair and one which lasts longer - oiling is the best remedy.

There are so many oils in the market which tells you tales about the benefits it provides. Before jumping in the bandwagon with others, check it from which company you are buying the oil. A trusted and known company is very important as there are many duplicates in the market.

Having good hair oil is not enough, eating the right kind of food also helps. Harmful foods such as canned and processed food which do not protect your hair instead damage it, should not be eaten. Fresh coconut is very good for your hair.

For beautiful and strong hair, massage your scalp with hair oil and leave it overnight. You can also use a steamed towel to cover your hair for half an hour for best results. This gives your hair a shiny and lustrous look.

Oiling your hair everyday would be too much to ask for. But do this at least thrice a week for beautiful hair. It does make a lot of difference if you keep doing this regularly as it is bound to show on your hair.

What Hair Colour You Should Go For:Tips

Posted by tehreem On July - 15 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Getting your hair color right isn’t a science. It’s really quite simple: Stick to colors that complement your skin tone, figure out if you’re best off with all-over color or highlights and then decide if you’re going to pay someone else to do it or do it yourself. Here are some tips how to choose right shade for you.

  1. Pick the right shade of blonde Some women look good in any color but most women don’t. Some rules of thumb for going blonde, according to Allure’s Confessions of a Beauty Editor, which is my favorite beauty book of the moment:
Sallow skin with yellow undertones? Deep golds aren’t for you. Pink skin? Avoid strawberry shades.
Doing it yourself? It’s best to go no more than a couple shades lighter than your current shade.
  2. The right way to go (or stay) brown Here are more Allure tips for going dark: If you’re pale, careful with the super dark tones, you might look ghostly and older. (Eeek).
Just as with blonde, it’s best to start out just a couple shades from your natural color. In this case, avoid going more than a couple shades darker initially.
  3. To color or to highlight, that’s the question. We find women with short hair look better with full color rather than highlights. If you have medium-length to long hair, highlights — especially around the face — can be very flattering. For the most natural-looking highlights, you can ask your stylist for up to five different shades of color, according to ‘Confessions.’Keep in mind that due to root growth, all-over coloring will need to be touched up every four to eight weeks, while highlights can last up to two or three months.
  4. Different types of highlights. There are basically four types of highlights: basic foil highlights, baliage or ‘hair painting’, chunking or ‘piecing’ and lowlighting.
  5. Doing it yourself? Home-color kits have come a long way in the past few years and are perfect for busy people and those who want cut the cost of professional colorings. (We know of a couple top fashion editors who color their hair themselves!). Some great hair coloring kits include:
  6. Coloring newbie? Start with a semipermanent color. Semipermanent colors wash out after a few washes, whereas permanent colors have to grow out. If you are new to coloring your hair, you might start with a semipermanent hue UNLESS you want to cover gray hair or go two or more shades lighter or darker.

Summer 2008 Hair Trends

The Sleek Side-part

One could argue that the side part never goes out of style. But having just had a 70s revival of long flowing hair with centre parts, it’s worth noting that sleek side parts were big on the runways for Spring / Summer 2008.

Masculine

On the other extreme to the super-soft and feminine hairdos, masculine styles also hit the runways as as forerunner to 2008. Agyness Deyn’s trademark boyish crop was the perfect playground for creating masculine styles, and Yves Saint Laurent slicked the hair of their models back into 50s rockabilly men’s dos. We’re not expecting this to be too mainstream, but to be picked up by the more alternative types on the street.

Tips For Coloring Different Types Of Hair

Posted by tehreem On April - 4 - 2008 3 COMMENTS

There are few tips for coloring different types of hair.

For fine hair
• When coloring, a shorter development time is needed, i.e. 30 – 35 min.
• A weaker strength of straightening cream is suggested
• Use styling products which provide volume such as a mousse or spray/ strong hold.
• Apply a conditioner treatment only on the ends.

For normal hair:
• When coloring, an average development time is needed, i.e. 35-40 min.
• A normal strength straightening cream is suggested.
• Use styling products which help maintain the natural beauty of the hair type such as gel, spray, wax or mousse.
• Apply a conditioner to lengths and ends only when nourishment is required.

For thick hair:
• When coloring, a longer development time is needed, i.e. 40-50 min.
• Strong or normal straightening cream is suggested.
• Use styling products which give intense shine and hold, such as wax. Or for more hold, use hair sprays or ultra strong gels.
• Use an intense conditioner or moisturizing treatment for more shine, flexibility and protection.

First time coloring:

1. Color selection: It is advisable to choose shades close to your natural hair color. This is the easiest way of coloring.
2. Application:
Step 1) Start applying the color first at the length & ends.

Step 2) Distribute it on the roots. Allow the color to develop for 30 minutes. For thick and coarse hair leave color for an extra 5-10 minutes. Follow the specified development time so that you get longer lasting and desired color results. To ensure you have the right development time, test one strand of hair every few minutes by washing out the colorant and monitoring the results.

Post coloring:
1.
To increase color retention and to remove any chemical residues (Alkaline and Peroxide) left on the hair after shampooing, it is essential that you use a conditioner as a final neutralizing treatment. Conditioners restore the hair to its natural condition after coloring, keeping the hair healthy and beautiful at all times.

2. After rinsing out the color from the hair & shampooing, massage conditioner into the hair and leave it for approximately 2- 3 minutes. Rinse hair thoroughly and style as usual. We recommend the use of conditioners after every shampoo to maintain the color vibrancy and health of your hair.

Tips on Coloring Grey hair:
Grey hair is one of those hair concerns that most people deal with at some point in their lives. The key question is whether to hide it with color or let it out in its full glory. Historically men have been considered “distinguished” with grey hair but women have been marked as “older” if they let their grey hair show.

Attitudes about grey hair, styles, appropriate lengths and color are changing dramatically every year.

Consumers no longer let hair and fashion industry experts dictate the “right color” or the “best style” and make their own personal choices based on what works best for their lifestyles. The big question that remains is should you color your grey or not?

Whether or not you decide to cover your grey hair, you probably want to make your hair color last as long as possible. There are several things you can do to maximize your newly colored locks so that the color remains deep and vibrant as long as possible.

What is the best way to cover grey hair? When hair is predominately grey it is recommended to start the application where hair is the greyest. Use one shade darker than the target color. In the absence of any color in the hair, the shade will appear lighter.

Women’s Hair Color Trends 2008

Posted by tehreem On February - 24 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

Picking a colour which is in the fashion is not a easy job – New colours are being invented, and mixing colours are popular for ages, but there’s always a doubt whether it ever even looked good. Here we come up with a list of the colours you should be sporting in 2008.

Dirty Blonde

It’s time to get down and dirty. 2008 is the time to throw out average blonde, and look to more extremes. While blonde with dark roots seemed popular at the beginning of 2007, an overly more natural look is the safe choice of 2008.

Dirty Blonde Women's Hair Colour Trend 2008

What’s best is that it really is the transeasonal colour for 2008/2009. It hasn’t yet hit the street in a massive way (straw blonde is still out there in force sadly), but you’ll find it in both the Spring-Summer and Fall (Autumn)-Winter runway collections, and we’ve seen it work particularly well with the soft and feminine hair style trend as seen on Tommy Hilfiger’s Fall-Winter 2008/2009 catwalk on the likes of Caroline Trentini and Jessica Stam

Platinum Blonde

Hypermodel Kate Moss is the one who made the fringe a hair trend for 2008, and she’s doing the same with platinum blonde. Moss first showed off her platinum blonde look, paired with a bob, in November 2007’s issue of i-D magazine and we knew it would be an instant hit.

Much like the dirty blonde hair colour trend, platinum blonde is another shade for 2008. But it differs in its suitability for the seasons: while you’ll be able to wear it all year round, it really is best suited to Spring-Summer 2008.

Auburn, Not Red

Red hair is a staple for so many people, but while fiery red has been popular in recent times it’s been rarely seem out in the wild. Instead we’ve noticed an enormous increase in the popularity of auburn. You can also turn to burgundy and maroon, just make sure before to pick a hair colour that mixes red and brown with a natural finish.

Auburn will be best for the Fall (Autumn) - Winter 2008/2009 season, hence it’s immense popularity on the Fall-Winter catwalks, particularly Chris Han’s
