Sterling Silver Jewelry Care

Posted by tehreem On July - 20 - 2008 1 COMMENT

Nothing can quite beat the sheer elegance of sterling silver. The brilliance of silver jewelry appeals to almost every person of any age, even regardless of gender. However, it also possesses that sublime sophistication that gold jewelry always seems to overdo.

If you seem to disagree with this simple statement, think of a person – any person, for that matter – wearing a load of just sterling silver jewelry. Let’s deck that person in a few sterling silver earrings. Then let’s try placing silver ropes around that person’s neck. We can add a couple of silver rings to go along. And for good measure, we will even throw in one or two silver toe rings. And what do you have? You see nothing more but everyday wear. Now, picture that same person wearing the same exact jewelry, only this time, turn every piece that we imagined into gold. Now what do you have? You see a person imitating a fully lit Christmas tree.

We are exaggerating, of course. Nonetheless, this fully illustrates the sublime sophistication which is found probably only in sterling silver jewelry. In fact, if you want, you can mix and match sterling silver jewelry with any other gem or mineral and it will still look pretty chic. Only few kinds of jewelry can achieve this kind of versatility while keeping a sort of utter sophistication and elegance. Cubic zirconia jewelry or CZ jewelry, particularly CZ rings and CZ earrings are often paired with silver. And you guessed it; this combination always manages to look wonderful.

Taking Care of Your Diamond Jewelry: Some Tips

Posted by Qurratulain On January - 18 - 2008 1 COMMENT

Diamond Jewelry being precious on one hand and delicate on other needs special care. Taking good care of diamonds not only maintain a long life of your jewelry but also the pleasant effect on your personality. Better is if it’s stored in individual jewelry cases or cloth pouches, but more care can go for more benefits. Here’s a short list of DOs and DONTs for good care of your diamond jewelry.

  • Cosmetics like lotions, soaps, perfumes and powders and hair sprays can affect the spark of the diamonds by leaving a film on them, so avoid keeping diamond jewelry near any of these.

  • Another important thing to be noticed is to take off your diamond jewelry while participating in sports and swimming.

  • One of the properties of diamonds is that it repels water but readily accepts wax and grease, so keep all such ingredients away from diamonds.

Taking care while cleaning the diamond jewelry:

  • The diamond jewelry needs special care while getting cleaned and a better way is to soak the jewelry for a short while in a liquid dishwashing and then give it a mild and gentle scrubbing.

  • Use a lint-free cloth to dry the diamond jewelry.

  • There’s no need to get it cleaned very frequently, once in a single or two years is enough for its professional cleaning.

Though diamond is known as the hardest metal but delicate jewelry made of it can be ruined even with a little change in day-to-day activities, and taking care of such dainties increases its life and your charm.

Ttreat your jewelry with great care and reverence. Keep every single items separated to avoid scratches. Even harder-than-nails diamonds can be scratched by other diamonds and will lead to distroy its the look and beauty. Always be careful with pearls; they are soft and damage easily. Link and chain bracelets are best stored flat (unhooked), rolled up in soft cloth.

Apply perfume, makeup, and hairspray before putting on jewelry, and be sure to remove jewelry before doing housework that could damage it! Likewise, remove all jewelry before having your hair styled or colored! Avoid allowing your jewelry to be exposed to household chemicals, nail polish and remover, solvents and abrasives that can dull and damage. Chlorine can damage gold, so avoid wearing gold in the pool. Cuff bracelets, especially those with settings, should be opened and closed as minimally as possible.
