Summer 2008:Top Perfumes

Posted by tehreem On July - 10 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Can you imagin life without perfumes? i can’t imagine my life without perfumes. I have a dozen of them and still want to have more. I am so glad that most designers share my point of view and try to renew their famous scents in order to make them so summer-like )))

So, top 5 summer fragrances 2008:

  • Very Irresistible Givenchy Summer Cocktail

The previous version was a bit simple. But this one is amazing. The fragrance offers adorable combination of pomegranate pink and cooling freshness. The only one thing reminding about the old Very Irresistible is the original rose-infused fragrance.

Fun, romantic, and spontaneous…

  • Aqua Allegoria Guerlain Figue-Iris

My personal fav from Guerlain is L’Instant. I adore it. Really. Incredible scent. But this limited-edition of Aqua Allegoria fragrance with fig and iris scents together with bergamot, vanilla and pink grapefruit is brilliant.

Hot, stylish, and sophisticated…

  • Classique Summer Fragrance Jean Paul Gaultier

Gaultier scents are for extremely cool and really fashionable women. The scents reminds of Africa multiplied by citrus notes and a charming bouquet of Arabian jasmine, ylang-ylang, and white iris.

Exotic and provocative…

The Sleek Side-part

One could argue that the side part never goes out of style. But having just had a 70s revival of long flowing hair with centre parts, it’s worth noting that sleek side parts were big on the runways for Spring / Summer 2008.

Masculine

On the other extreme to the super-soft and feminine hairdos, masculine styles also hit the runways as as forerunner to 2008. Agyness Deyn’s trademark boyish crop was the perfect playground for creating masculine styles, and Yves Saint Laurent slicked the hair of their models back into 50s rockabilly men’s dos. We’re not expecting this to be too mainstream, but to be picked up by the more alternative types on the street.

Summer Fashion 2008: Clothing Trends

Posted by tehreem On May - 30 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

There are five fashion essentials for 2008. Whether these pieces have already found their way into the closet or a shopping trip is needed, each of the following is a must-have for their versatility and freshness.

1. The Sheer Shirt

Spring (and now summer) fashion this year has embraced sheer fabrics as well as lace, cut-outs and eyelets. The go-to shirt for summer is a sheer one, whether in girlie gauze or more sophisticated linen. Pick a light, neutral color that compliments the warm climate. These shirts are perfect to wear over a tank top – embracing the coolness of a tank without being so exposed. If the shirt gets worn, by the end of the summer, use it as a bathing suit cover-up. But sheer shirts can last a long time if they’re treated gently and hand-washed.

2. The Floral Dress

Yes, the summer staple: a floral dress. For 2008, the shape of the dress doesn’t matter so much – it can be a shift, a full skirt or belted at the waist. What’s important and what makes the dress modern is the pattern itself. Dainty little flowers are out; bold patterns are in. Bigger, brighter flowers (as long as they’re not gaudy) look sophisticated and elegant. Pick dark flowers on a light background – dark gray or navy on white, for example – for an extra grown-up look.

3. Casual sparkles

The shimmery trend from the past year continues – but for summer, keep sparkles from being too glitzy by making sure the piece of clothing is a casual one. Pair a sequined top with jeans or khakis or a lightweight jeweled cardigan over a plain shiftdress. Sparkles have even been showing up on the beach. Teen Vogue recently featured a beach-wear spread that included a sparkly shirt. Who says shine has to be limited to the city?

Hairstyling Tips

Posted by tehreem On May - 11 - 2008 2 COMMENTS

We often wish to resemble super models that adorn the covers of top fashion magazines the world over – it seems they can wear whatever they want and always look immaculate. Be under no illusions – even these women are going through consultations with their make-up artist, hairstylist and clothes designers to maintain that perfect smile!

There is one general but important rule: Add volume where you face is narrow and reduce it where it’s wide.

To get some tips for your personal face shape have a closer look at the guidelines below.

Heart Shaped Face

Jaw-length bobs work well, and turning out the ends balances a narrow chin. Build volume low and at the sides rather than on top. Choose an off-centre parting and leave a few wisps free for a soft fringe. Curls are a blessing – cut in a layered structure around your face (they help reduce your forehead and open your jaw line). If you want to tie your hair go for a low ponytail or French knot low at the back – avoid piling your hair on top.

Oval Face

An oval face goes with almost every style and length of hair - it is very simple to find the right hairstyle. If you have a very long oval shaped face balance it with medium long and short haircuts, the choice should be according to the structure (thin or thick) of the hair.

Square Face
The best length for you is a cut that ends near your collarbone. Use layers around your face to round and soften square-ness – centre partings also help to round and slim the face. If you are lucky enough to have natural curls, leave them natural and pull a few strands into the face to frame and soften your appearance.

Choosing And Applying A perfect Red Lipstick

Posted by tehreem On May - 1 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

lips1.jpgFirst of all, choosing the correct red is crucial for you! Here are some helpful tips for selecting the right shade of red for your skin tone:

  • Fair skinned ladies should opt for a red with blue or cool undertones.
  • Ruddy skin (with reddish undertones) looks best with pinkish reds that have tinges of violet or fuchsia.
  • Olive and darker skin colors look great in warm reds with orange, golden, or brown bases.
  • Dark brown skin looks stunning in brighter fuchsia reds.

No-fail selection: keep in mind that a blue-based red is flattering on most skin tones and will set off a sparkle in your eye, make your teeth appear whiter, and give your skin a luminous glow.

Now comes application, that may be as follows:

  • Line lips with a lip pencil that matches your natural lip color.
  • Smudge this lining with a Q-tip or your finger to soften the outline for a more natural look.
  • Set down a base layer by lightly applying the lip color (lipstick or gloss) with a professional grade lip brush, spreading color from the center of your lips and moving out. Since a little red goes a long way, using a brush helps you apply just the right amount of product.
  • Blot lips with tissue. Carefully apply a second coat.
  • For extra dimension and the appearance of a fuller, more sensual pout, finish with a tiny dollop of pearlized gloss in the middle of the bottom lip.
  • Pucker up.

Tips For Keeping Your Nails Healthy

beautiful-nails.jpgClassic red, iridescent blue, soft pastel or bright orange are only some of the thousands of nail color shades available in matte, gloss and sparkle finish. Two-toned colors are also gaining favor with the beauty conscious day by day and being color correct and keeping pace with the fast changing trends of nail culture is becoming more and more difficult. Here are some sensible advise from the beauty and nail experts for you to use:

  • Coloring your nails draw greater attention to your hands. So, don’t forget to moisturize your hands every time you wash them with special hand creams with aloevera so that they don’t dry off easily.nal1.jpg
  • Once a week manicure and a dipping your hands in lukewarm olive oil bathe with salts will give you smooth skin on hands and beautiful, healthy and glowing nails.
  • Soften the skin on the nail by applying oil or cream in it regularly. Dip the fingertips in olive oil to nourish the grooves beside the nails and skin under them. It will make pushing it back easier and will nourish the nail bed thus, enhancing the growth of the nail.
  • Soft nails are not brittle and easier to cut, file or shape. You may also polish them after smoothing its surface by gentle filing strokes.
  • Use a multicolored lacquer to polish the nails for that sheer tinted look and you may also dye them with bright nail colors with high gloss with a steady hand.
