Balmain’s Christophe Decarnin beat the economic odds and created a highly coveted, can’t-keep-it-on-the-shelves spring 2009 collection. Balmania, as it’s come to be known, has gone beyond cult-classic status to achieve success. With Decarnin at the helm, Balmain doubled its revenue in the years from 2005 and 2008.The biggest hits from the catwalk include slashed and deconstructed acid-wash jeans, drummer-boy jackets, bandage dresses, and, of course, sky-high studded stilettos (copied the world over), made for the wild-at-heart party-going gal.
